The inaugural 2017 Sports Analytics World Championships (SPORTIEN™) is a educational competition for Sports and Technology professionals and students. Participants typically have a passion for sports technology, data science, sports statistics, predictive analytics, machine learning, sports marketing, fan engagement and quantitative sports. The Top 16 will compete in the World Finals hosted in Melbourne, Australia in November 2017.
The Sports Analytics World Championships will involves Two Online Qualification Rounds (typically 3 hours each) with a Live World Finals. Participants compete as individuals with questions relating to a wide-range of topics such as leagues, teams, industries and focus on insight about how new applications of data and analytics are shaping and transforming the sports business. The championship is technology agnostic – so participants can use any analytic tools, techniques and strategies to solve case-study and multiple-choice challenges. Sportien will fostering educational awareness and innovation in this analytics arena, and enriches opportunities for learning about the sports business world. The competition is open to anyone interested in sports and technology.
How It Works
- Two Online Qualification Rounds (typically 3 hours each online) for participants worldwide, delivered via our online technology testing platform.
- Five Regional Hackathons – hosted in regional hubs of Brazil, Netherlands, India, UK and San Francisco – where one (1) spot will be awarded to the top-performing hackathon participants to attend the World Finals in Melbourne, Australia in November 2017.
- Top 16 World Finals in Melbourne is dedicated to fostering educational awareness and innovation in this analytics arena and enriching opportunities for learning in the sports business world.
- The competition is open to anyone of any age interested in sports, entertainment, technology, data and analysis.
